đź“š Lesson Plan #27

We Have a Dinner Idea For You!

Happy marvelous Monday morning, Superstar Teachers! 🍎

There’s a sweet reason today is extra special. It’s International Waffle Day. It dates back to 1859 when the first Waffle Day was celebrated in Sweden, coinciding with the Feast of the Annunciation and the start of spring. A few things you might not know about the humble waffle:

🧇 Waffles were originally used by the Catholic Church in the Middle Ages as a communion wafer.

🧇 Belgian waffles aren’t actually from Belgium. They were introduced to America by a Belgian named Walter Cleyman at the 1962 World’s Fair in Seattle.

🧇 The unique tread on the first Nike running shoes was made by pouring rubber into a waffle iron, and that’s why they called the shoe “Nike Waffle Racer.”
