Did Someone Say Free?
Good morning educators!
This is Muhammad Lila, the CEO of Goodable. I'm writing to let you know we're doing something different for this week's Goodable in the Classroom: It's our first-ever children's book giveaway! It's a book that's close to my heart.
When I was growing up, it was hard to find a children's book where any of the characters looked like me. It was even worse on television. If any of you grew up in Canada, you may have watched a TV show called Romper Room. I remember watching each episode and waiting until the end, hoping each time that the host would call out my name at the end. But... she never did.
That's why I'm so proud to be giving away Leena Mo, CEO to the first 25 people who email me directly at [email protected]. The book is about a young girl named Leena who gets tired of shoveling the snow at home, so she invents a robot that can do it for her. It's for every little girl (or boy) out there who ever felt like they didn't belong but still had dreams of chasing the world. Here's some of the artwork.
There's no catch or strings attached. As educators, you're on the front line of helping the next generation find their voices. I hope that some of your students will see themselves reflected in the pages of the book. Maybe some of them will even go on to build a snow-plowing robot!
Just email me to request a copy and if you’re one of the first 25 people, I'll arrange to send one to you. There's no cost and no catch. I hope you'll enjoy reading it as much as I did.
And now.... on to this week's good news stories!

đź“– STORIES OF THE WEEK
HEROES: Milly the Hawk and the Firefighters
(Grades 1 to 5)
Even the smallest creatures need a helping hand sometimes, and they can end up in some of the most unexpected places. That's exactly what happened to a little hawk named Milly. Thankfully, some brave firefighters came to her rescue, showing that their heroism goes beyond just putting out fires.
SCIENCE: Earth Just Got a Second Moon
(Grades 6 to 8)
You may not have noticed it this past weekend, but we have a visitor. While it is very tiny and only the experts have the tools to see it, way up in the sky, a second moon has appeared.
HEALTH: This is Your Brain on Exercise
(Grades 9 to 12)
Getting fit goes way beyond your waistline. It's no secret exercise is essential for health and well-being. While it's easy to see some of the physical benefits coming into play, you may not realize that exercise and movement benefit your brain as well.
