The Blanket Maker: 12-Year-Old Turns Chip Bags Into Foil Survival Blankets
A 12-year-old girl from Wales is turning discarded chip bags into foil blankets similar to the ones used in emergencies. Alyssa Dean got the idea from a Facebook story about a woman who has a similar project in England. She has now made over 200 blankets and donates them to charity, some as far away as Ukraine.
Do Goldfish Really Have A ‘Memory’? A New Study Suggests They Are Smarter Than We Thought
Contrary to popular belief, goldfish have good memories and they are a lot longer than 3 seconds. In the most recent study, scientists at Oxford trained nine fish to swim a specific route. Even when the course was changed slightly, they still remembered the way back and also proved they can navigate their surroundings.
A Glimpse of the Future: A Flying Taxi Just Launched in Dubai
Whisking over traffic jams might be a reality in the near future. An aviation company called XPeng just tested a flying taxi in Dubai. It’s called an “electric vertical take-off and landing vehicle” or eVTOL, and is a two-seater car that flies. It cruises the skies at 3,000 feet or 1,000 meters and can go up to 80 miles or 130 kilometers an hour for about 35 minutes on a single battery charge.VIDEO LINK
Bye-Bye Plastic Bag: Canada’s Second Largest City Moves to Reusable Bags
Researchers in Sweden just built a new video game with a twist; you can actually smell what’s happening inside the game. They have attached a small scent machine to a VR system’s controller, and when the player moves the controller in a specific direction, it releases a scent. They’ve put the code online and say it could even help retrain people who have lost their sense of smell.
Volleyball Team Holds a Special Match for One of Its Biggest Fans
A high school in Wisconsin created a special night for one of its biggest fans so he could watch his sister play volleyball. Malina Carratini’s brother Payton has autism and is sensitive to noise. So the team planned a “silent night” for their last game, during which everyone watched the game without making a noise.VIDEO LINK
